José Luis Merino nace en Barcelona en Mayo de 1962.

Estudia en la escuela Eina de Barcelona.

En 1985 comienza a trabajar como diseñador gráfico en varios estudios y agencias de publicidad hasta 1998, año en el que se independiza para fundar su actual estudio de diseño gráfico e ilustración.

Desde el año 2004 imparte clases de ilustración en el Graduado Superior de diseño en la Escuela Elisava, para el Postgrado de Ilustración Creativa en la escuela Eina y para el Master en Dirección de Arte de la Universitat Ramon Llull de Barcelona.

Ha diseñado el diario deportivo Olé y la revista Mística en Buenos Aires, el diario Jornal de Noticias para Oporto, el diario deportivo Nemezti Sport para Budapest y el diario deportivo Sport en Barcelona. Todos ellos para la empresa Cases Associats.

Entre sus clientes se encuentran BMW, Doyle & Partners, Elle Germany, Elle Decor UK, Fast Company, Food Ilustrated, Food & Wine, Forbes, Freixenet, Gourmet, GQ UK, Harper Collins, Harper's Bazaar USA, La Vanguardia, London Sunday Telegraph, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Madame Figaro, Madame Figaro Japan, Neiman Marcus, Pedro García, Philadelphia Inquirer, Planeta, Playboy USA, Red Magazine, Ritz-Carlton, San Miguel, Smart Money, The Guardian, The Mail on Sunday, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post Magazine, The World Financial Center, Town & Country, Travel & Leisure, W, Williams-Sonoma Taste Magazine, Worth.

Como Ilustrador está representado internacionalmente por la agencia Kate Larkworthy de Nueva York y la agencia Zegma en España.

Since 2004 he has been teaching illustration in the Superior Graduate on Design at Elisava School, in the postgraduate in Creative illustration at Eina School and in the Master on Art Direction at Ramon Llull university in Barcelona.
